I took an old, soft piece of Tulip Poplar from the Murfreesboro area that was spalting throughout (the black lines) and turned it into this bolt action pen. Since the wood was too soft to use, I had to use a special vacuum infusing process to saturate it with a hardening solution. I added a blue dye to the solution to create you see here. I then matched it with the antique brass hardware to create a bolt action pen.

What is a bolt action pen? Think of a bolt action hunting rifle. That bolt action mechanism is mimicked on the pen to extend and retract the ink cartridge.

Speaking of ink cartridges... This pen uses a standard Parker ballpoint ink refill that is available at any office supply store. This pen will last for many years and you'll be able to easily and economically replace the ink cartridge as needed.
